Bob Newbie has become the friend maker. Bob Newbie is also now the only one with a job because Betty missed work two days in a row.

Their first skunk because I can't keep the house clean even with a maid.

They bought two little birds.

Bob managed to become friends with Bella Goth.

Claire the bear made a bee line straight for the beehive.

It didn't work out so well for Claire.

We also have a bunny problem. While I do not have any carrot patches so they do not actually eat anything, I see them hop around every once in a while, watching, waiting, counting down the hours until I decide to grow carrots, which I already know will not be happening.

Thanks to the beeswax I have been harvesting I was able to make a charm so we got the charm making machine.

The charms are pretty.

I didn't realize you had to bang the thing off the machine.

This charm is for Beauty or Beast

Betty went really small and then really big, I missed the really small part.

There were not a lot of options for beauty (since the charm worked) so I went with this. I guess it is beautiful. The more magic I have her do on lot the more likely they are to get magical growth things like crystals or the bean stalk which is what I really want.

Getting more beeswax

This also makes honey which is cool.

At this point the camera started not taking pictures even when I told it to and the problem was rather random so I am getting annoyed with it. I was seriously considering starting the whole game over (because I am just like that to myself) but I haven't and I am trying really hard not to let a few hiccups make me uninstall and re-install the game, even though I really want to right now.

I am not sure when but the birds died inside of two weeks Sim time of play. I swear I fed them every day.

I decided to get the grapes and elderberry sprigs and see how that went, I think we can make wine at some point but right now I am just trying everything out a bit.

More camera not working. She actually did this for a little while and has been making a lot of magic coins. In fact, she had enough magic coins to buy...

... a dragon

Who turned into a pyro

Seriously, a pyro.

And he eats all of their flowers, oh well, they were taking too long to take care of anyway.

I had her buy two more dragons to see if I could get the other two types of dragons but no such luck, they were all pyro dragons.

So at this point I would really like to start over.  Making it through week six is actually pretty good for me but I feel like I should have waited a little while to get the dragon and I should have read the book again on how not to get the pyro dragon because that is dangerous to have around.  I am not really sure what to do and I guess we will all know what I decided when I next post about The Sims.

Lol i didnt realise their were 3 types of dragons!!

With the elderberry sprigs etc did you have to water them etc or just wait until they were ready to harvest?

you are making me want to break out my discs!

There are actually three types of dragons if I remember what I read correctly. One of them is supposed to be really well behaved which is what I wanted but I was happy to get a dragon period.

You do have to "tend" and "water" the elderberry sprigs so it is like the regular gardening.

"you are making me want to break out my discs!"

hahahahaha If you have space on your computer the nice thing about is no one grows old. The bad thing about it, children never become adults unless you use the correct spell from Makin' Magic. I have been enjoying playing all three versions of the game I just wish I would have gone a bit slower on what they were getting into with Bob and Betty Newbie since they have had several close calls. It is one of my weaknesses when playing.
oh i forgot to say "lol poor claire!" she was so cute!!

I think i had a semi well behaved one.. i think it may have only set fire to something once or twice but that was so long ago!

hmmm i think i should :D
I am used to Claire the bear going to the garbage can so I was surprised, but amused, when she went to the beehive.

I was right, three types of dragons - http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon - at least now I know what I was doing wrong.
haha ok so i had the red one... ooops.. guess we didnt show them enough love!!

awww i miss Claire the bear and there was some other weird character wasnt there?

There is the really sad clown and if you do not throw good parties you get a mime (which I always get). If you throw a good party you get a hidden Drew Carey Sim. There are probably others but that is all I can think of right now.
god throwing parties in sims sucked badly i kept on getting bad. How are you suppose to get a great party?!?
Bunnies! And Dragons! :D

That's the only thing I don't like about the birds in Sims 1 or 2. They just die.. I remember the first time I bought my Sims 2 Sims a bird (First EP I bought) I got a child to go out and feed it, and it was dead.. I did not mean to inflict that upon the poor kid. :P

Not as bad as what happened to my sister's Sim. She sent her Sims kid out to play with it, and just as she got to the cage, it fell to the bottom.. :( I was so shocked!
Yes, the birds in The Sims 2 never last. I remember reading a legacy where it was a running joke for a while as they kept naming the birds the same name but with a number at the end. The best part was, they made sure it was never the same type of bird so while the reader knew it was a new bird, theoretically the family didn't.

I think I had a couple of birds in my game when I was playing with Pets. I cannot remember how long they lasted but it could not have been long. Most of my families ended up with the womrats because that is what they generally rolled a want for.
I never got Makin' Magic. I don't think I could, not, but I have all the other disks. Maybe I could work on having a sim reach the level of Superstar or something. I'm tempted to see if I can track down the Makin' Magic EP on Amazon or eBay or something.

I loved the original game. I didn't have any mods for it, just some heads and bodies.
yay, an update! a couple of suggestions:
1. make a separate room with all your magic stuff because it will junk up your lawn. when betty gets the teleport spell, take the door off of it and let her teleport most places instead of walking. this counts as a magic spell and will get you crystals pretty quickly, from what i remember.
2. don't plant more than one elderberry or grape or else you will be drowning in them! you can put an extra in a pantry and use them as food.
3. you can grow carrots if you want! use move_objects on to grab the bunnies and sell them for $1 each...unless you consider this a cheat.
1. Interesting idea, I will have to consider putting this into practice.
2. I only planned on planting one of each so this shouldn't be an issue but thank you for the info.
3. I didn't know you could sell the bunnies! I wasn't really planning on growing carrots because they have to be replanted with each harvest according to the prima guide. I may sell the colony breeding in the back of the lot anyway because it is getting ridiculous.
LOL @ the Pyro Dragons. I didn't do much with the Makin Magic, but it looks like it was pretty fun!
Hope you decide to continue this, I have had fun reading it!
I will continue playing the Newbies, I just need to better sort out their home, it seems to have rapidly gotten away from me.
These 'The Sims' posts are so great! They bring back so many memories. My daughter still plays the original sims from time to time - she loves the magic - but I had completely forgotten many things you showed here.

About the dragons: I think how you take care of the eggs affects which sort of dragon you get. If I remember right, you had to be very careful of how many times you interact with the egg to get a good dragon.
Yes, I read about the needing to interact with the egg a certain number of times after I got three pyro dragons so hopefully the next one will be better when I attempt again.

I am glad people are enjoying The Sims posts, it has been an interesting challenge to play the game again after playing The Sims 2 for so long.
